Another way to measure effectiveness of resource management is to look at institutional support spending as a percentage of instruction, research, and service spending. These types of data come from each institution using agreed-upon program codes that allows comparisons. It is critical to note that there is discretion at each university how to actually code expenses but so it may not be a precisely apples to apples comparison. The chart below compares CWU (red) to 9 other institutions similar to CWU. The two in blue are other Washington state comprehensive universities.
