C’est en deuxième période que les Nats ont pris les Happy howls rang through the air of the Larose Forest over the January 13 weekend as sled dogs took to the trail, running for the Mush Larose recreational time trial. The recent cold snap across Eastern Ontario warmed up over the weekend, with the Sunday morning temperature averaging between 11 and 12 degrees below zero in the Larose Forest bordering Bourget and Limoges. Which just made many of the Huskies waiting to get harnessed up almost dance with impatience as sledders tried to fasten their traces. “The trail was in great shape,” said Dana Cranstone, Mush Larose president, after she finished her own sled run along the five-mile route through the woods, “and the dogs love the cold.” About a dozen sledders and their dogs gathered, along with family and friends, at the Indian Creek Road trail head.
