Qemat Al Rafahiya - Pinnacle of Luxury T The unveiling of the redesigned Ferretti Yachts 720 at boot Düsseldorf 2026 - the world’s largest indoor boat and watersports trade fair - marks a defin- itive milestone for the legendary Italian yacht manufacturer, representing a masterful evolution of one of its most successful flybridge models. In an industry where luxury is a standard claim, Ferretti Yachts has sought to give a new meaning to the term through the lens of genuine domestic- ity. The “Just Like Home” philosophy is not merely a marketing slogan but the architectural foundation of this 22.5-metre [73ft 10in] vessel. By pri- oritising comfort, spatial optimisation, and an influx of natural light, the new 720 bridges the gap between mid-sized flybridges and the expansive “floating villas” typically associated with the brand’s much larger models. To bring this vision to life, the shipyard enlisted the expertise of archi- tect Filippo Salvetti for the exterior lines and the renowned IdeaeItalia for the interior design. Together, they have sculpted a yacht that maintains the brand’s signature DNA while pushing the boundaries of functional elegance. The exterior profile has been sharpened, featuring a redefined gunwale and more extensive glazing. These glass surfaces, particularly in the lounge and master cabin, do more than just aesthetic work; they serve to dissolve the barriers between the maritime environment and the living spaces, ensuring that the sea is a constant, shimmering presence within the yacht’s heart. Stepping aboard the main deck, the sense of connection begins at the transom. An optional sea-facing fold-out sofa transforms the stern into a private terrace over the water, a feature that sets the tone for the lei- sure-focused experience ahead. Two staircases lead to a generous cockpit where the outdoor dining area beckons for al fresco gatherings. By combining a hinged panel for use while under way with two sliding panels, the yacht creates a seamless, single-level environment that integrates the fresh air of the Mediterranean with the climate-controlled luxury of the interior. Inside the salon, the influence of IdeaeItalia is immediately apparent. The space is anchored by two large facing sofas upholstered in exquisite Zimmer + Rohde fab- rics. A subtle but vital upgrade in this redesign is the inclusion of built-in storage compartments within the seating, a design solution usually reserved for much larger yachts. This focus on maximising utility without sacrificing style is a recur- ring theme throughout the boat. Owners are given the choice of two distinct interior moods: Classic and Contem- porary. The Classic mood utilises earthy, warm tones to create a grounded, tradi- tional sense of luxury, while the Contemporary mood favours glowing woods and fresh hues that mirror the vibrant blues and teals of the ocean. Regardless of the choice, the use of premium materials like Bonaldo coffee tables and Poltrona Frau leather ensures a refined, Made in Italy atmosphere. Moving forward into the central section of the main deck, the dining area com- fortably accommodates eight guests. However, the most profound structural change in the new 720 is the clear separation between the social living areas and the operational zones of the galley and wheelhouse. This is achieved through a sliding glass door and an optional electrically operated hi-lo glass panel. This semi-enclosed configuration allows for greater privacy during formal dinners or when the crew is preparing meals. The galley, designed by Ernestomeda, features a dedicated exit to the exterior walkway, allowing crew members to navigate the ship without disturbing the guests - a level of service flow typically found only on superyachts. The wheelhouse itself has undergone a technological and ergonomic transforma- tion. The most striking feature is the windscreen, which lacks a central pillar to provide the pilot with an unobstructed, panoramic view of the horizon. The in- strument panel can now house up to four 16-inch displays, and the pilot chairs by Poltrona Frau offer ergonomic support for long passages.
