STITCHING Different types of stitching will achieve different looks; in some cases, we may opt for direct embroidery, and in others, we will opt for patches and labels. Artwork limitations can end up determining which process you go for. We can also produce a larger quantity of the design upfront and use the patches for different applications on bags or apparel, or just a great gift for folks to use as they please. Sending out Patches and stickers with a notebook, for instance, is an easy gift to ship.

SATIN STITCH Flat stitches are sewn closely together to cover fabric sections and used for letters, borders, and areas of design.

FILL STITCH Parallel running stitches are used to cover large areas. Different fill patterns are available.

RUN STITCH A single line of stitches. This pattern is used mainly for thin outlines or borders and fine detailing.

PUFF STITCH Satin stitches are sewn over a foam, plastic, or rubber foundation to create a 3-D puffy effect. Large round letters are recommended.

EDGING

MERROW EDGE Standard patch border. A 1/8" border that over locks the emblem edge, preventing fraying. For large, simple shapes like circles and shields.

SATIN STITCH EDGE A hot knife cut border with a 1/16"-1/8" satin stitch edge that simulates a merrow border without over-locking the emblem's edge. Good for unique shapes.

HOT KNIFE EDGE Smooth, hot knife cut stitched border. For patches with complex shapes or detailed borders.

LASER CUT EDGE Smooth cut fabric border. Enables design to extend to the edge with no stitching on the emblem edge. Available on woven patches and labels.

BACKINGS PERMANENT HEAT SEAL For permanent heat-press or iron-on application of patches to most garments. HOOK & LOOP Includes both male and female sides. Available in black, white, and tan. TEMPORARY STICKER Pressure sensitive. For temporary application. Good for up to 4 or 5 uses. Can be sewn on for permanent hold. PLASTIC For sew-on purposes. Makes for a sturdier patch and a smoother backing. NON-WOVEN FABRIC Thin, paper-like fabric to hide backside stitching. For sew-on application.

EMBROIDERED PATCH Embroidered patches are the most commonly known patch style. They are available in simple shapes with or without a merrowed edge. They can also be laser cut into complicated

Embroidered patches are priced based on stitch coverage and the stitching is done on to a twill backing material that we can match to your design. Limitations & Requirements • Sizes go from 2” to 12” in 0.5” increments. • Best suited for adhering to heavier fabrics and materials, like sweaters jackets and bags. • Watch for text height - if too small the stitching wont be legible.

shapes and upgraded to a satin stitched border. They are a great alternative to direct embroidery! Standard pricing has up to 7 colours included but more are possible with additional cost. They can be made with or without a heat seal backing to be able to heat press them to garments (we can provide more information on applying them!).

WOVEN PATCH Woven Patches are very close in appearance to embroidered patches, but they have a much higher reso- lution and a better choice for highly detailed art due to the use of a finer thread. They can be simple shapes or laser cut to complex shapes and like embroidered patches they can have a merrowed edge and a heat seal backing too! Backing for woven patches can be heat seal, hook and loop, temporary sticker and satin stitch edge finishing.

Limitations & Requirements • Typically smaller in size, woven patches come in sizes from 1” to 5” in 0.5” increments. • For larger woven patches we recommend adding a merrowed edge to finish off the look of the patch.

Achieves finer details than embroidery

WOVEN LABEL Like woven patches, the woven label has the ability to have higher resolution stitching to showcase branding and messaging. Details are much clearer and a woven label adds a sense of value to the product. It's subtle branding that can be appreciated by anyone. Most commonly used as pinch label or hem tag on the seams of clothing, beanies, and hats. But are also, seen across the front of caps or on the nape to showcase branding or sizing. Laser cut.

Limitations & Requirements • Max 8 colours. • Add the length and width and divide by 2 and round up to the nearest half inch. • Max size: 90 cm x 18 cm.

9

3D PUFF PATCH A variation on the embroidery patch is the 3D Puff Patch. We achieve a 3D look but stitching over a foam underlay cut to the art that creates the dimen- sionality and we can go a high as 1.5mm thick and 2mm high. This look is really popular for sports branding. Up to 7 colours included in standard pricing and the backing for 3D patches can be heat seal, hook and loop, temporary sticker and satin stitch edge finishing. Match your thread and twill backing

colours to those available. Simple shapes and complex laser cut shapes also possible. Limitations & Requirements • Sizes available from 2” to 5” in 0.5” increments.

LEATHER & FAUX LEATHER PATCHES

Leather and Faux Leather patches are gaining in popularity. The deco- ration is a deboss imprint to achieve a tone on tone look and feel and we can also add a custom PMS or metallic colour fill. The leather comes in seven basic colours, genuine leather colours (upgrade) and custom colours for faux leather. They can be sew-on or made with a permanent heat seal backing with a pre-stitched

sew line. Backing options include heat seal, hook and loop, temporary sticker and faux sew lines. Suede options are also available that use laser engraving for the decoration that achieves high detail. CHENILLE LETTERS Chenille patches are a classic varsity look often done as letters or numbers

The script can stand alone or have a ‘tail’ added to it (like a fat underline) and we can also add script into the tail. Limitations & Requirements • Available from 3” to 9” in 1” increments and produced in smaller volumes due to the specialty nature of the patch. • Usually large format patches, sizing starts at 8” x 2.5” and goes up to 14” x 5” .

and as chevrons to indicate years of participation. A great idea for an annual employee gift for years of service or special committee membership. Get the look of a chenille patch with a tackle twill patch at a much more affordable price.

SUBLIMATED PATCH

Limitations & Requirements • Sizing is from 2” to 5” at 0.5” increments.

Sublimated four colour process patches are printed on twill fabric and ideal for designs with multiple colours or gradients. Achieve a photo realistic look with this type of patch. No threads are stitched or woven (unless you also want a merrowed edge) and higher levels of detail can be added to the patches. Consider the option of adding an embroidered detail on top of the sublimated art and get the best of both worlds – a detailed design and the texture of embroidery.

13

SOFT RUBBER PATCH Soft rubber patches are plastics based material that is bright and durable. Any PMS colour can be matched and 4 colours are part of the standard price. We can create a sew on groove, temporary sticker backing, or hook+loop backings.
