The stud ent s will a lso be required t o speak in public, in open air meetings, shop meetings and churches, and their work will be rev iewed and criticized. They will be required to read the Bi bl e and will he shown their defects and how thev can be corrected. It is especiall y aimed to teach the stucle~t s to think on their feet and to be ready on all occas ions to express the truth in the most fo rcible and telling way. XXII. Bible Lands and Manners and Customs T he obj ect of thi s course is to enable stud ent s to und er­ stand the Bible in the light of the lands and customs in which the Bible was written. It is g iven in connection with the course entit led Bibli cal Introducti on. See page 26. XXIII. New Testament Greek \\ ' hil e some men on account of age-and lack o f prev ious educa t;on ent er the. mini stry without knowing New Testament Greek,-and often do excell ent work, it is well for young men who can do so to take up that subject. A conscient ious stu­ dent. under proper instruct ion, can, in three yea r s. lay the foundation of a wo rking knowl edge of the language in whi ch the New T es tament was written. O nl y those stud ents taking the Th ree Yea r Course will be permitted to take this subj ect . XXIV. The Study of English Every g raduate from the Bible Inst itute will be required to haYe a thorough , practical knowledge of the E ngl ish lang­ uage. It is des irabl e that every one before entering the Insti­ tute should have a knowledge of Engli sh g rammar . but there are many men and women who can be of g reat use in teaching and preaching the \ \'ord. whose knowl edge of E ngli sh is ve ry elementary and inaccurate.
