COMMUNITY IN ACTION

Big donation to the Agapè Centre

Kinsmen Club donates to MRI campaign

Ray Eady, president of the Kinsmen Club of Cornwall, recently presented the Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation (CCHF) with a cheque of $10,000. The donation was the third installment towards their $50,000 MRI campaign pledge. Pictured are Erin Killoran, executive director of the CCHF, and Ray Eady, president of the Kinsmen. The Kinsmen association was founded in 1920 in Hamilton by Hal Rogers, a decorated Canadian war veteran. The family of Kin encompasses clubs all across the Nation. These clubs include Kinsmen Clubs, Kinette Clubs and Kin Clubs. Since their founding, the family of Kin has raised in excess of $1 billion for the people of Canada.

The Commonwell Mutual Insurance of Alexandria recently donated $2,500 to the Agapè Centre through their C.A.R.E. – Create a Ripple Effect program. The Agapè Centre is a non-profit organization that is open to help people in the community. Their three main programs are the Food Bank, Soup Kitchen and a Thrift Shoppe. Volunteers team up to serve a Christmas meal

$500 for Rachel’s Kids This year, instead of handing out Christmas cards, Tim McCuaig took the $500 that he would’ve spent on Christmas cards and made a donation to Rachel’s Kids. The owners of Cornwall Hyundai, where McCuaig is employed, also stepped up and matched the $500 donation. Pictured are Tim McCuaig, Dr. Rachel Navaneelan, Bev Lapointe and Kim Lauzon. Rachel’s Kids is a charitable organization supported through community contributions and corporate donations.

Volunteers and cook gathered at the Agapè Centre as early as 8:30 a.m. on Christmas Day in order to prepare a feast for all those visiting the soup kitchen. Pictured are Sebastian, Angele, Brejana, Sophie, Yvon, Elizabeth, Ludwik (cook), Brad, and Mikalah. The Agapè Centre is a non-profit organization that is open to help people in the community. Their three main programs are the Food Bank, Soup Kitchen and a Thrift Shoppe. With the support of the community, they are able to ensure that no family goes hungry, cold, or without any of their basic necessities of life.
