There is more to life than soda and lime by Sarah Stewart

The increase in popularity of low and non-alcoholic drinks in the last 18 months has been an absolute game-changer for me, sales for alcohol-free beers and spirits are through the roof and show no signs of slowing down and I’m here for it. It’s so refreshing to be able to go to a bar or a pub, a supermarket or even shopping online, and there to be an array of options, not just lemonade and soda waters, but real choices! Yes a lime and soda will do on a night out and I’ve been partial to a few of those myself, but trust me there is so much more to life than just lime and soda! There are alternatives to pretty much everything now; beers, wines, ciders, spirits, cocktails, liquors, you name it and a brand has made an alcohol-free version of it. Here are the main reasons why I love non-alcoholic drinks and hopefully you will to: ·They taste great and there are so many flavour combinations out there, you can easily find something that suits you. ·They can be beneficial to those in the recovery community. ·Low or no alcohol drinks can be a great way of cutting down on the amount of alcohol you drink at home. ·You can go out for the night and still drive home! ·They help to make you feel included in social settings and gatherings. ·You can indulge in the flavours of cocktails and beer that you love, but not have any of the nasty side effects like a hangover. ·They can be a healthier and lower calorie option to an alcoholic drink. ·Reducing the number of units you consume helps avoid the more serious long-term effects of drinking too much, including high blood pressure and heart disease. ·The amount of alcohol in 0.5% drinks is so small that it's impossible to get anywhere near drunk on 0.5% drinks, no matter how many you have!
