Resentments by Liz G.
My Light byMariaMacKenty The porch light always on. A lighthouse on a rocky shore. My light shines for me, And for you, That youmight see, The possibility Of your own, Waiting andwanting to shine brighter. A slowburning flame, Deep inside, Ready to connect, To a bigger, brighter collective of hope.
They gather, they accumulate Theymove inand they dominate. Theywant you to fail and to hate, But give themno leverage or noweight. Shake themloose and let themslide Don’t give themroomto growand thrive. Let themhave no place inside. Resentments they canmultiply, They can stretchandmaximize, They can increase andgo into overdrive. They canbring you to the brink Twisting your thoughts so that you think What agood idea I need that drink Wanting you to shrivel and shrink And if I turn the other cheek Does thatmean that I amweak Endless thoughts and endless questions Themindmaking endless suggestions Aroundandaround, temptationabounds, Go on just one it couldn’t hurt Tell yourself itswhat yourworth
There She Is.. By Shana E. There she is, the girl in themirror
Surely its not that bigadeal If this iswhat I need to heal But that’s just it, It will not heal Instead it robs and it steals Keep resentments far away
Where has she been, only the shadows know She swamwith the dark shadows for so long that she lost track of the time. Only to reawaken and see herself again She recognizes the reflection but the feelings inside are new, Lightness, hope, and gratitude rise up like awarm blanket enveloping her after swimming in the depths of the cold, dark shadows. Time will allow this awakening to blossom As she waits for the time to pass she will remain grateful for the girl looking back in themirror.
So that they do not have to power to sway. And tomake us thinkwe need to drown ourselves indrink
