The Center for Advanced Air Mobility is a leading-edge research and education initiative dedicated to advancing next-generation aviation technologies and their integration into society. The Center brings together interdisciplinary research, workforce development, and industry collaboration to address the challenges and opportunities of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM). Our mission is to perform pioneering research, develop a career-ready workforce, create innovative curriculum, conduct immersive student engagement and forge dynamic industry collaborations to accelerate the advancement and community integration of transformative Advanced Air Mobility transportation technology.

OUR VISION Creating a better society through the development and advancement of safe, scalable, and sustainable advanced air mobility systems that transform how people live, how commerce flows and how communities connect.

The Center includes:

Advanced Air Mobility Laboratory Provides an 80’ x 70’ hangar space with direct airport access, alongside a 60’ x 60’ x 50’ netted cage for on-field flight testing. Supports prototyping, welding, fabrication and machining through a fully equipped machine shop. Enables research in flight dynamics and control, flight testing, propulsion, parameter identification and aerodynamics. C-182Q Flying Testbed Features specialized sensors, instrumentation and external mounting pylons. Supports diverse mission applications, including detect-and-avoid, aerodynamics, performance, human factors and meteorological sampling. Facilitates rapid prototyping and compliance with stringent sponsor testing specifications through on-site fabrication. AAM Simulation Offers custom inceptor configurations and advanced flight modeling. Provides programmable handling qualities and training effectiveness evaluation. Delivers a 180-degree operator field of view. Captures flight data, pilot inputs, and performance metrics for analysis. Smart and Multifunctional Meta-Structures Lab Design and optimize mechanical metamaterials. Fabricate multifunctional composites using additive manufacturing.
