We have the expertise, research capability and infrastructure to study information processing, situation awareness, training and flight-deck performance issues. We recognize that new interface designs will require significant testing as well as sweeping changes to flight decks. The insights of our interdisciplinary team can provide solutions with a focus on human-machine interface. Embry-Riddle is ideally suited to lead research in this rapidly emerging field. Our faculty experts have provided leadership to relevant Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics (RTCA) committees. Our state-of-the-art research facilities support experimental flight testing, aircraft modifications for FAA certification, design and testing of uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS), development and verification of high-fidelity (up to Level D) flight-data models used in engineering and training simulators. Highlights: Expert faculty members in uncrewed aerial vehicles, human factors, consumer perceptions research and human-machine interfaces The Next-generation Embry-Riddle Applied Research (NEAR) Lab is a research and development enterprise providing software engineering, systems engineering and modeling and simulation services Embry-Riddle is working to help safely integrate UAS into the National Airspace We are focused on advancing awareness of the need for Aviation English proficiency Our comprehensive aviation research infrastructure and expertise is unique and differentiates us among other institutions of higher education Our interdisciplinary research teams can go deep inside the issues and opportunities that surround human-machine interface on the flight deck
