Accountable for the Strategic thinking, development, co-ordination and delivery of the Campus’s long term Masterplan. Inclusive of the development and implementation of space utilisation and space saving standards, highlighting the opportunities and constraints. Lead, motivate and develop the internal team and external consultants, to ensure a consistent delivery of an appropriate and timely service. Generate an overall knowledge of the Estates, through high quality record management, communications. Through leadership, energy and experience, engage in professional Interaction with Schools and other Professional service divisions, to ensure a collaborative approach to project planning. Lead on the early strategic planning of projects, feasibility and option appraisals, business case development, and strategic brief development, working with a wide variety of stakeholders. Take a strategic lead to conduct and report on, evaluation exercises of alternative design proposals, provide the support to project teams to correctly challenge Schools and Directorates requirements for projects, to ensure project briefing meets the needs of the key end users, but balances this with the wider needs of the Sussex Community. Ensuring that projects adhere to common standards and principles appropriate to the scale of project and ensuring that the delivered project meets the agreed objectives and brief. Draft and review the team’s documentation, to ensure in line with best practice, Sussex principle and meet senior stakeholder’s expectations. Manage resourcing levels required through a mix of internal and external resources.

Take the lead within Estates and liaise with key external stakeholders to develop long term relationships and maintain working dialogue with the Local Authority, other statutory bodies and local communities. Achieve best value, champion a culture of pro-active management, of all resources linked to the masterplan, space, people and finances. Able to identify and document best practice procedures relating to own work area. Budget responsibilities- Ensure project scoping will sit within outline budgets, or the generation of outline budgets for future project. The management of external consultants fee budgets, within projects for initial project stages, or throughout the project Proficient in CAD and aware of leading edge planning tool and technology.
