AUCTIONEER’S NOTE
This was truly a special place for Norman Dicks, his family, and all friends who were able to enjoy it over the years. Known locally as the “Haulk Hotel” and the “Dicksville Duck Club”, this was a hunting paradise along the Mississippi River. Many hunting and fishing stories were told around the cabin, duck blind and goose pit. Norman was a great steward of this land and always had the wildlife in mind as he developed the farm. Once row-cropped, Norman turned the tillable fields into warm season grasses which improved water quality, wildlife habitat, and flood control. In 2008, Norman and Anita were awarded the Illinois Wildlife Landowner of the Year by the Region 4 Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The countless hunts, fishing adventures and social gatherings will be remembered by his family and friends forever. Norman was very proud of his land and cabin, and his wish would be for the next owner/owners to carry on the tradition.
