County court TCC cases must only be brought in specified District Registries where TCC judges are usually available, or in the Central London Civil Justice Centre. Claims for less than GBP 10,000 (about USD 15,512) will usually be allocated to the small claims track and dealt with in the county court. Alternative dispute resolution Other methods of dispute resolution include: – – Mediation A neutral third party discusses the dispute with the parties, in pursuit of a middle ground and constructive solutions An independent and impartial evaluator is retained to give the parties an assessment of the merits of their cases. The aim is to give the parties a realistic appraisal of the strengths and weaknesses of their respective positions, which will hopefully facilitate productive settlement negotiations. An ENE service is provided acceptable to all involved – – Early Neutral Evaluation

by the judges in the TCC – – Expert determination The parties choose an expert of the

appropriate technical discipline to resolve their dispute privately, and they agree to accept his decision. It is most successfully used where a dispute centres on a technical question, rather than a point of law. An expert determination is an investigative, rather than adversarial, process
