"We don't track projects; we track owners," Derek states. This philosophy focuses on building long-term relationships rather than just completing transactions. Building Relationships, Not Just Structures One prime example of their relationship- based approach is the Park Circle Reimagined project for the city of North Charleston. This adaptive reuse project transformed a city park to include a farmers market, a community center, and a Miracle Field baseball field. "That project was based off a relationship that I had with a local architectural firm that brought us to the table," Derek explains. It was a high-profile project that the mayor wanted to accomplish before retiring from office, and Robbins Construction delivered. The company also boasts a long-standing relationship with Floor & Decor, having completed about 17 retail stores throughout the Southeast. "I think that solidifies our approach of being a client-based contractor," Derek notes. "Our team understands that every project's an interview for the next one, and to do 17 projects in 3 years just speaks to that consistency that we hold internal on our process and procedures."
The Power of Integrity
For Derek, the key to forming solid and long- lasting client relationships lies in integrity. "It's the integrity piece of doing what you say you're going to do and being truthful about what you do," he asserts.
