By Jamie Barrie T oronto makes the short list of 20 cities as potential locations for Amazon’s second headquarters. The Seattle-based retail giant announced it had settled on 20 possible cities and towns to build its second headquarters from the 238 entries which included 10 from Canada. Toronto is the only Canadian city left in the running which includes 19 U.S. cities or regions, mainly concentrated along its East Coast and Midwest regions listed below. Still in the running:

• Miami, FL • Columbus, OH • Los Angeles, CA. • Dallas, TX. • Austin, TX • Philadelphia, PA.

• Toronto, ON • Boston, MA • New York City, NY • Newark, NJ • Chicago, IL • Washington, DC • Raleigh, NC

• Pittsburgh, PA. • Indianapolis, IN. • Denver, CO • Northern Virginia, VA • Nashville, TN. • Montgomery County, MD

So, what is next for Toronto and the other 19 candidates?

Well, Amazon says that they will now take a “deeper dive” into the proposals by the remaining cities in the coming months and evaluate the feasibility of a future partnership with a final decision coming at the end of 2018. I guess for once all of Canada is cheering for Toronto.
