C ongratulations to David White from SONAS Bathrooms for being crowned overall winner. This award recognises a sales representative who provides outstanding customer service, superior product knowledge and support to meet customers’ needs, and David certainly encompassed all these qualities. After joining the company in 2013 and bringing a decade of experience in the bathroom industry with him, he quickly made his mark. He went on to exceed sales targets every year from 2014, established a new sales region, launched its first-ever showroom display at Boucher Crescent, and received positive feedback from retailers regarding customer service. Furthermore, David has been instrumental in setting up local partnerships for the company, such as the partnership of Hanover Football Club in Portadown, and his willingness to go out of his way to help customers left a strong impression on our panel of judges. Managing Director, Richard Sloan stated: “David is a fantastic member of our team, his focus and ambition have elevated SONAS Bathrooms as a key player throughout Ireland and David really understands the needs of his customers, who rely on him to identify the perfect solution to their bathroom requirements.”

M urphy and Kelly (Thomastown) Ltd – Paraic Lennon. This category always attracts a high calibre of individuals, and this year was no exception. The judging panel was impressed by all applicants but felt that one apprentice stood out from the rest. Congratulations to Paraic Lennon whose dedication and attitude to his work made him a worthy winner. Glowing testimonials from his college lecturer and employer highlighted that he is a valued member of the team. The judging panel remarked how they were impressed by his attention to detail, adaptability, and willingness to lead the charge on a number of projects. They also noted how it was evident Paraic has a high aptitude for plumbing, is keen to learn other trades and disciplines, and is committed to mastering his craft by practising in his free time. His employer testimonial read that it is Paraic’s drive to succeed and thirst for knowledge for all things mechanical that makes him a valuable asset. The testimonial also explained how there are far too many apprentices leaving this country to work abroad instead of working here and perhaps if they were all praised and commended a bit more, they might rethink the need to work elsewhere.
