CHRIS REILLY, ALTECNIC COUNTRY MANAGER FOR NORTHERN IRELAND AND THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND, DISCUSSES THE IMPORTANCE OF HOW CHOOSING THE ‘RIGHT’ PRODUCT MANUFACTURER CAN MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE... Choosing the ‘right’ productmanufacturer

T he continuous use and circulation of non-compliant plumbing and heating products is a growing industry concern. Despite efforts to combat the problem, there are still a large number of products on the market that either don’t comply with the latest regulations or are described as being ‘manufactured in accordance with’ those standards. WHAT DOWE MEAN BY THE ‘RIGHT’ MANUFACTURER? Due to the nature of plumbing and heating products, particularly those required for safety needing to be compliant and abide by countless regulations, a responsible manufacturer will invest significant time and money in ensuring their offering is fit for purpose. WHAT ARE THE RISKS OF CHOOSING THE WRONG PRODUCT MANUFACTURER? The primary issue homeowners face should a substandard product be

installed in their property is safety, but for an installer there are several other implications to consider when determining the true cost of not using accredited, authentic, compliant products. For example, non-compliant products present risks such as: • Being made from inferior materials or components • Not being tested and approved to the right standards • Null and voiding any manufacturer’s warranty on a boiler This means that installers cannot be sure that these parts will not cause major failure, damage, or be the cause of breakdowns in a system. WHAT ABOUT WARRANTY? It could be argued that merchants and installers should choose suppliers and products that offer a warranty, as it provides them and their customers with security and extended protection. Caleffi recently extended their 5-year warranty on to their most trusted

products to highlight their quality and reliability- giving customers a guarantee that Caleffi core products will withstand general wear and tear for at least 5 years.
