EXPANSION VESSELS

WHY IS LEGIONELLA A PROBLEM? We know that Legionnaire’s Disease is responsible for approximately 2-9% of pneumonia cases and that the disease is spread via the breathing in of aerosolised water contaminated with the Legionella bacteria, which can be created in environments such as hot and cold-water outlets, atomisers, wet air conditioning plants, and whirlpool or hydrotherapy baths. It is important that, when fitted

though expansion vessels, varying from 8 to 1000 litres for a wide variety of install types. With these vessels all being nitrogen filled, the chance of internal corrosion is reduced, and the loss of pre-charge pressure is prevented. This then contributes to extending the life of the expansion vessel, hence their 5-year warranty. Furthermore, all flow through expansion vessels are WRAS approved, meaning they fully comply with the Water Supply Regulations and Scottish Byelaws. WHERE CAN I FIND MORE INFORMATION ABOUT KEEPING WATERS SYSTEMS SAFE FOR PUBLIC USE? Altecnic work with and are members of a number of professional industry bodies

and associations who advocate the importance of keeping water systems safe from the risks of legionella and other harmful bacteria such as: • The Legionella Control Association • The Water Management Society • The Society of Public Health Engineers • Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineers To keep vulnerable end-users safe, it is extremely important that we utilise products that minimise the risk of harmful bacteria growing in systems. To speak to a member of the Altecnic Technical team about its flow through vessels, email technical@altecnic.co.uk

in settings where users are vulnerable, components of a

system help to minimise risk and prevent the growth of this harmful pathogen and other pseudomonas. WHAT FLOW THROUGH EXPANSION VESSELS ARE AVAILABLE AT ALTECNIC? Altecnic Reflex vessels come in a range of different-sized flow
