When you think of Benjamin Franklin, you might think of the United States Constitution, a kite and a lightning bolt, bifocals, or Poor Richard’s Almanac. Benjamin Franklin was an accomplished polymath and is widely considered the first “self-made man”—someone whose success comes not from station, wealth, or connections, but from personal industry. As the fifteenth child of a soap and candle maker, Franklin was not born into privileged circumstances. The influence he still has on the world today did not come from his profession as a printer, but from his personal pursuits, fueled by constant curiosity and never-ending goal setting.
