POLICE DEPARTMENT’S COMMUNITY OUTREACH DIVISION LAUNCHES SEVERAL INITIATIVES IN 2017
The Law Enforcement Explorer Program 237 is for teens ages 14 – 19 to develop leadership skills and experiential learning through team-building activities, as well as law enforcement training. The Pearland Police Department added the Community Outreach Division to build strong partnerships with residents, civic organizations, community leaders, school officials and local businesses to meet the ever-changing law enforcement needs of the community.
To do so, the Division has several initiatives that further the department’s philosophy of community policing and work to

Safetytown is currently being developed. Once available, the program will be a week-long camp for children ages 5 – 10 that will teach safety while biking, walking and playing, as well as stranger danger and personal safety issues.

Other programs in the Division are the Apartment Manager’s Meetings, Senior Citizen Outreach program, Law Enforcement Explorer Post 237 (post number in memory of fallen officer Endy Ekpanya) and Safetytown. The Apartment Manager’s Meetings were recently re-launched to serve as a quarterly information exchange forum for all area apartment managers to get together and discuss safety and security issues.
