The Cornwall Minor Thyphoons defeated the Kanata Blazers on January 15 in what proved to be quite a physical game, as two visiting players were injured in a span of 10 seconds, late in the third period. Although the game started off well in the home team’s favor, it took until the very last minutes of the third period to determine the winner. TheTyphoons were the first to add a goal to the score sheet, scoring their first one early (1:37) in the first. Their second came at 4:20, still in the initial period. The second period, however, saw the Blazers save themselves from a humiliating shut out, with a goal at 7:46. The last period proved to be filled with intensity, as the two teams fought for victory. The Typhoons scored first on the power play at 12:10, which was followed by another Cornwall goal, this one coming at 15:46, but not happening before a scary incident involving two visiting players. At 12:10, play was stopped as two Kanata players laid on the ice, apparently suffering from a wrist-related injury as well as an upper body injury. Both would skate back to their bench, as the crowd cheered. The injuries seemed to have motivated the Blazers, as they managed to squeeze the puck in the home team’s net at 16:38. The Typhoons won another home game, with a score of 4-3.

Atom B Rapids decimate South Dundas

The Atom B Rapids won their game against South Dundas on January 17, shattering the visiting team’s defense with a 5-2 win. With less than a minute having passed since the beginning of the game, the Rapids scored, displaying great eye to puck co- ordination. The home team would go on to outscore South Dundas 4-0 in the initial period. The second period was devout of any goals, but saw several penalties being handed to both teams. The last period saw great puck-handling skills by the Rapids. Early in the third, they scored a shorthanded goal to bring the score to 5-0. Unfortu- nately for the Rapids, however, South Dundas managed to score two late goals be- fore the game was over.
