STUART NETTLEFOLD Business Events Tasmania CEO Business Events Tasmania

NEW CHAIR FOR TASMANIA’S BUSINESS EVENTS INDUSTRY

I am very pleased to welcome Mark Kelleher to the position of Chair for Business Events Tasmania. Mark took over leadership of the organisation at the beginning of April when outgoing Chair, Malcolm Wells, retired after three and a half years. Mark, a respected industry leader, will be a great asset to the organisation and our members, as we continue to strategically market Tasmania internationally and nationally as a leading business event destination. Mark’s extensive experience and skills make him the ideal person to lead the Board of Directors through the next stage of Business Events Tasmania’s growth. Mark is currently the Deputy CEO/Secretary, Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Co-Operative Research Centre. Prior to his current role, Mark held the position of Secretary/CEO Tasmanian Department of Economic Development, Tourism and the Arts for five years. He is a member of the Committee for Economic Development of Australia and previously a Director of Tourism Tasmania. His strong ties with the University of Tasmania, along with those of BET Board Director, Professor Mike Calford, are also a great asset to the Tasmanian business events industry. They will enable Business Events Tasmania to strategically work closer with the university, so that we can better identify and secure more national and international association conferences to Tasmania, that are relevant to the university’s fields of expertise. I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank our previous Chair, MalcolmWells, for his service to the Board and Tasmania’s business events industry. During his leadership, Malcom showed great leadership and strong engagement with government. He strategically delivered renewed focus around Business Events Tasmania’s corporate governance processes and was successful in securing increased funding for the organisation. I am confident Mark will continue the excellent contribution made by Malcolm Wells and I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with him.
