Dr. Martin L. Smith, Sr. 1972-2025 Podiatrist M artin Landon Smith, Sr. (Upsilon 1992) entered the Chapter

for junior high school. He excelled in athletics at the school, where he was on the basketball team and participated in track and field. Smith attended St. Bernard High School and pursued his athletic career in basketball and track and field. He set the record at St. Bernard High School for the triple jump his senior year and made it to the State CIF Finals. His triple jump record stands at St. Bernard High School. Smith graduated from St. Bernard High School in 1990. He attended California State University, Northridge on a basketball scholarship and graduated with a B.A.

degree in Psychology. Fueled by his competitive spirit and following the legacy of his sister, In 2024, Smith earned his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, CA. Dr. Smith completed a three-year surgical residency at Phoe- nix Baptist Hospital and Maricopa Medical Center in Arizona. He began his career as a physician on the Gila Indian Reservation in Arizona. He enjoyed treating patients but soon transitioned into administra- tion. Feeling like he wanted to do more patient care and missing his California roots, Smith moved back

to California. He wanted to make a significant difference as a healthcare provider and joined private practice at the Center for Foot Surgery Medical Group. As a foot and ankle surgeon, Dr. Smith used his gift to help hun- dreds of people save their limbs and lives. Brother Martin L. Smith is survived by his parents, wife of 23 years, Dawn Smith, their children Maya, Morgan, and Martin Landon, Jr., sister Lori (William) Hewitt and their children Ariel, Brenton, and Celine, and a circle of dearly loved in-laws, nieces, neph- ews, cousins, and friends. ♦

Invisible on February 14, 2025. He has over 15 years of experience in diabetic limb preservation wound care. Dr. Smith is board-cer- tified with the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and also held a Certificate of Added Qualification and Amputation Prevention and Wound Care. Brother Smith was born August 18, 1972, in Los Angeles, CA, the second child born to Franklin and Debora Smith and grew up with his older sister Lori, in Inglewood, CA. He attended Good Shepherd
