Stubble Burning Permits
Landowners requiring a Stubble Burning Permit are requested to contact the Keith or Bordertown office before 11.00 am on the day of the burn. Please be aware that new permit conditions can apply depending on area to be burnt: 1. A firebreak of 8 metres must be cleared around the paddock to be burnt (previously 4 metres). 2. A minimum of four (4) people must be present and capable of controlling the fire (previously 2). 3. At least 2,000 litres of water must be available on site to extinguish the fire (previously 400 litres). 4. A minimum of two vehicles each with water pump and hoses must be kept at hand in case water must be used to control or extinguish the fire while the fire is being lit and maintained. Minimum water capacity must be 400 litres per vehicle. To assist in streamlining the permit process, please ensure you have all relevant property and burn details available when you call. Permits will be issued following the South East Field Days – Lucindale (20 & 21 March), commencing Monday 23 March, and will be available until the season concludes on 30 April 2026.
