HAMMOND Families are invited to an evening seminar at St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School on April 26, 7 p.m. Parenting the Internet Generation: Keeping Our Kids Safe Online is a presentation of the SFX High School Council. Guest speakers include Ka- ren Sparks, an Internet specialist and educator, and OPP Const. Serge Gauthier. Topics covered during the evening include: risks children may encounter in cyberspace, how to help them recognize and avoid Internet predators,, how to deal with cyber- bullying, and safe use of social networks to protect their own privacy and identity. Drivers in the Cumberland ward of Ottawa have something new to look at whengoingpastsomeofthelocalschools. Special electronic display boards to tell them how fast they are going and warn them to slow down. Cumberland Ward Coun. Stephen Blais welcomes the new traffic control addition, a joint venture between the City of Ottawa and local school boards. “As spring brings more children out walking and biking to school, we want to remind residents to slow down in school zones,” Blais stated in a press release. “We need to ensure the safety and security of our streets and protect ourmost vulnerable asset: our children.” Speeding has become a primary traffic concern for the municipality as council fieldsmore requests to reduce speed limits,

set up stop signs, or take other steps to slow drivers down. The speed display boards are a low-cost way to remind motorists
