During his 46 years of coaching and teaching, he was employed at Haut Gap High School in Charleston, SC, John Ford High School, St. Matthews High School, and Calhoun County High School in St. Matthews, SC. Dayson ranks ninth in career coaching wins (552) according to the South Carolina High School League. He led the St. Matthews High School girls' basketball program to the state championship during the 1975-1976 season and state runner-up during the 1981-1982 season. Dayson served as Commander of Vet- erans of Foreign Wars Post 10729 in St. Matthews, SC. He also served on nu- merous committees in Calhoun County including the County Zoning Board and summer recreational programs for children within the community. He was a dedicated member of Bethel AME Church where he served as Pro Tem of the Steward Board and a teacher of Sunday School. Brother Oscar Dayson, Jr. is preceded in death by his wife Ruth Audrey (nee Mintz) Dayson and his siblings (Mary, Anna, Addie, Ruby, Maude and Robert). Survivors include his children Valarie Garnette and Eric Martin, his one and only granddaughter Brittany Denise Noble, his loving goddaughter LeConya Wilson and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Emmanuel Duncan 1925-2019 Government Official, WWII Veteran

Champaign. He joined the fraternity as a 1945 initiate of the University of Illinois-Champaign, the Beta of Kappa Alpha Psi ® . His college matriculation was interrupted as he entered the United States Army where he served in World War II. After his honorable discharge, Duncan continued his education at the Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. While at SIU, Duncan was instrumental in bringing Kappa Alpha Psi ® to the Carbondale campus and became a charter member of the Gamma Upsilon Chapter. Professionally, Duncan worked for 35 years at the Illinois Department of Un- employment Security as well as worked in the real estate field for 10 years. He served as assistant regional manager for state of Illinois job service program and manager of Chicago Mayor Richard J. Daley Veteran Employment Program. Duncan was a member of the South Chamber of Commerce as well as served on U.S. Department of Defense committee that set employment policies for veterans. He was a past president of the International Association of Public Employees for state of Illinois, Southern Illinois University Reunion Council, and the Euclid Park Community Association. Duncan was the last surviving member of the Buffalo Soldiers 24 th Infantry Regiment combat team. He received the World War II Victory medal and the Army of Occupation medal. He served as All-State Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and life member of the Major Charles L. Hunt Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a life member of the Military Order of the Cootie, where he took care of hospitalized veterans. Brother Emmanuel Duncan, Sr. is preceded in death by his parents, his wife and silhouette Delores, daughter Stephanie, and brothers Malachi and Mayron. He is survived by children Cynthia, Andre, Yolanda, and Darwin; 45 grandchildren, great grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren, brothers

Willie and Russell; and a host of close relatives, friends and colleagues.

Frank E. Gadsden, Jr. 1940–2017 Educator

Frank E. Gadsden, Jr., esteemed educator, entered Chapter Invisible on Friday, Septem-

ber 15, 2017 in Charlotte, NC. Brother Gadsden was born in Charlotte, NC to educators, the late Frank E. Gadsden, Sr. and Dorothy Hunter Gadsden. Brother Gadsden earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Johnson C. Smith University in 1961 and his Master of Arts in Teaching Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1972. He received an Educa- tional Specialist (EdS) and Superinten- dent Certificate from Appalachian State University in 1981. He was a teacher, administrator and principal of great renown. Brother Gadsden received multiple Management Certificates, National Science Fellowships, numerous nominations and awards for his out- standing leadership and service as an Educator. Brother Gadsden was Deacon Emeritus at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and exemplified his love for God and man by volunteering his time and resources to his church and community. He served with distinction on several civic and professional boards and organizations in the Charlotte commu- nity. He served on the board of the Charlotte Drug Education Center (4 years), Community School of Arts (3 years) and Love, Inc – In the Name of Christ. Brother Gadsden was initiated into the Charlotte (NC) Alumni Chapter of Kap- pa Alpha Psi ® on December 13, 1969. During his 48 years of membership, he served as Polemarch of Charlotte
