He was formerly a member of the District of Columbia Housing Preservation Strike Force where he served as the Chair of the Finance sub- committee, and a past board member of the East of the River Community Development Corporation. In 2019, Lee was recognized as the DCBIA Government Sector Awardee. In 2018, he was named one of The Washington Business Journal’s Minority Business Leader Award honorees. Dantes Partners Managing Principal Buwa Binitie, the chairman of DCHFA's board of directors remembered Lee, "Todd was first and foremost an amaz- ing man and loved his family deeply and wanted everybody around him to succeed, particularly the residents of the District of Columbia, who he worked tirelessly for to ensure that they have an affordable place to live. He’s going to be sorely missed. And for those of us who have anything to do with providing hous- ing and supporting housing, we have to continue to honor his legacy." Brother Todd A. Callahan Leftwich and Horatio Frank Leftwich, Sr. (Tau 1934). He attended Lewis Adams Elementary School and Chambliss Children's House and graduated in 1953 from Palmer Memo- rial Institute in Sedalia, NC. Leftwich earned a bachelor's degree in physical education and biology from Springfield (MA) College. He also earned master’s degree in Physical Education, Supervi- sion and Administration from Springfield College. He subsequently earned a doctoral degree from the Ohio State University in Higher Education and Ath- letic Administration with post-doctoral studies in Anatomy and Kinesiology at the University of Iowa. During his decades long tenure at TU, Coach Leftwich served as Head Coach for Swimming, Cross Country, Men and Women's Track and Field winning one Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Championship in swimming in 1965 and four SIAC Cross Country Track Championships in 1968, 1973, 1974 and 1975. As Director of Health, Physical Education and Athlet- ics in 1968, TU won the SIAC Football Championship ("B" Division). He also served as the Director of Athletics from 1968-1972 and again from 1993-1995. In 1968, the National Youth Sports Program ("NYSP") was established by the National Collegiate Athletic As- sociation which was a five-week sports enrichment camp for children in Macon County ages 10-16. Coach Leftwich wrote the first NYSP proposal that was funded for Tuskegee University. Under his leadership as excellent director of the program that the Tuskegee Univer- sity program was recognized as the #1 NYSP program in the country for two years and the #2 NYSP program in the country for one year. In 2017, Coach Leftwich was inducted into the Tuskegee University Athletic Hall of Fame. In addition to his numer- ous athletic achievements, he also held many professorial positions such as As- sistant Professor of Physical Education, Assistant Director of Athletics, Associ- ate Professor and Assistant Head of the

Department of Physical Education. As Acting Dean of the School of Educa- tion, he served as Associate Professor and Acting Head of the Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Administra- tion in the School of Education. Former TU president Dr. Benjamin F. Payton, appointed Dr. Leftwich as Interim Pro- vost immediately following the untimely passing of TU's longstanding Provost, Dr. William L. Lester, until the position was permanently filled. He chaired and served as a member of numerous major committees, panels and organizations in the local, state and regional communities. He served as an Assistant Scout Master for Troop 170, as Vice Chairman of the Macon County Board of Education, a member of both the Alabama and National School Board Associations, a member of the Macon County Council of Governments and Second Vice President of the SIAC. Dr. H. Frank Leftwich, Jr. is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Edrice ("Jeannie"); children: Kim Rene, Wendy Edrice (Dr. James Walker), Terri Frances, Horatio Frank "Chip"; seven grandchildren, Caleb, Chloe', Ryan, Reece, Jamie, Tyler and Christian; and a host of close relatives, friends, colleagues, former TU students and players. age of 87. As a native of Jacksonville, FL, he attended Stanton Senior High School, class of 1948; graduated from Florida A&M University with a bache- lor’s degree in mathematics in 1955; and obtained his Master of Science degree from Arizona State University in 1968.
