Manning had a distinguished 22-year military career in the United States Army and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. After serving his country, he continued his career as a civil & indus- trial engineer with the Westinghouse Corporation for 20 years. He was a Life Member, 50-Year Member, and active with the Jackson- ville (FL) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi ® . He also served as a dutiful member of Second Missionary Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL. Brother Manning’s great legacy will continue with his wife of 58 years, Marjoria Jenkins Manning; son, Terry Howard Manning; four daughters, Toni M. Banks, Deidre M. Jackson, Pamela M. Kennedy, Michelle M. Dubois, along with their spouses; many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grand-children, along with a host of other loving relatives and friends. Major H. County, Radford City, and Floyd County (MRF) Branch 7092 of the NAACP, holding the position of legal redress chair, executive committee board mem- ber-at-large, and was a Golden Heritage Life Member. An active and very well- respected member of St. Johns Lodge No. 35 (Christiansburg, VA) of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Virginia, McKenzie held multiple titles and was also previously involved in other lodges in West Virginia and New Jersey. An advocate of mankind and human justice, McKenzie was dedicated to helping his fellow man and lending a helping hand with council and advice. He previously served as Deputy Mayor, Third Ward Councilman, and Council- man at Large of Franklin Township, Somerset NJ. He also served on the Franklin Township Board of Education from 1993 to 2000. Brother Fred A. McKenzie was preceded in death by one brother, John W. Hair- ston, Sr., five sisters, Ruby Jean Taylor, Rose Norwood, Sylvia Hairston, Sarah Hairston and Margaret Billups. He leaves a cherished legacy, his daughter, Freddie' Nicole McKenzie-Barnes, granddaughter, N’Dia Cyaeir Braxton, and three grandsons, Nylan Kristofer Childress, Derrick (DJ) Barnes, JR and Del’Kwon Barnes, and a host of friends.

During his career he held positions as an educator, a medical underwriter, insur- ance claims adjuster, and retired in 2004 from the State of Florida Department of Transportation as a Senior Compliance Manager. Brother May leaves to cher- ish his memory his wife, Cynthia May; children, Azhariah Queen, Michal May, Christen May, ( d.1988) Enjuil Simpkins (Kia Simpkins); grandchildren, Bryson Simpkins, Aaron Simpkins, Jourdyn Rountree, Connor Simpkins, Kenyata Simpkins; great-grandchild, Lafayette Simpkins; brothers, Ernest May, Arthur May, John May; sister, Matherlene May; special friends, Verdell Walker, Fred Jones, along with a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Fred (Freddie) Andrew McKenzie (Alpha Tau 1964) of Christians- burg, VA entered Chapter Invisible on March 31, 2019 at his home under the care of

Major Hall May was born on December 28, 1943 to Dock and Matherlene (Hall) May in Jacksonville, FL. He transitioned to Chapter Invisible

his silhouette, Barbara Palmer McKen- zie. He was born on January 29, 1945 to the late Joe and Viola Forney McKenzie. Brother McKenzie attended Bluefield State College where he earned a Bache- lor of Science in biology. Additionally, he earned his master's degree in counsel- ing, guidance, and industrial relations, and completed graduate work at the University of Michigan, Northeastern University, and Rutgers University. A Life Member of Kappa Alpha Psi ® , McKenzie served in multiple positions in the fraternity, including Polemarch of both Charleston (WV) Alumni Chapter and, later, the Roanoke (VA) Alumni Chapter. A dedicated community leader, he served in numerous leadership roles and had many accomplishments including membership in the local Montgomery

on October 17, 2019. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Brother May entered eternal glory after fighting the good fight of faith on this earth. May was a graduate of New Stanton High School Class of 1961 in Jackson- ville, FL and went on to attend Edward Waters College graduating in 1965. Brother May is an initiate of the Edward Waters College Chapter, the Delta Psi of Kappa Alpha Psi ® on May 9, 1964. He was a distinguished Life Member and 50-Year Member. He served in the Unit- ed States Armed Forces in 1968-1971, working as an oral hygienist and dental assistant being Honorably Discharged eager to return to civilian life.
