CORNWALL | In a boost to the region’s eco- nomic development, the Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus (EOWC) has awarded contracts to expand high-speed fibre In- ternet connections at more than 50 busi- ness parks and clusters across rural East- ern Ontario. Bell Aliant, Cogeco Cable Inc. and Utili- ties Kingston were awarded contracts to provide the new high-capacity, high-speed fibre Internet connections. The project adds to the number of business parks and clus- ters that already have broadband service in the region. The companies are building the new services off of their existing infrastruc- ture, as well as off of the 5,500-kilometre fi- bre-optic backbone that was built through the Eastern Ontario Regional Network

The amount was raised during the three-day celebration of the grand re-opening of the Pommier family business. Scotiabank sponsored the event with a matching donation of $5,000. Also key in raising funds for the CHF was the sale of Pommier Jewellers’replica clocks and other generous do- nations from event attendees.
