protestant press month capsule comments The only way to influence human nature permanently is through the use of ideas. Ideas make the man:, “ as he thinketh in his heart, so is h e r Christian publications influenced my own life in boyhood days. I was exposed so generously to wholesome reading that l cannot recall there was ever much hankering for the wrong kind! In this age when more people are reading more than ever and when the enem y is sowing the seeds of doubt in the hearts of men, Chris tian periodicals are of supreme impor tance. They keep the Christian in formed as to the progress of God’s work. They warn concerning errors and danger. No one can be a well- informed Christian apart from a wide acquaintance with the evangelical publications of our time. Torrey M. Johnson Evangelist and Bible Teacher The ch ief value of a good Chris tian magazine is to be a living wit ness to its own generation, something even the greatest book can do only briefly for the reason that it is soon dated by the sw ift passage of time. To interpret Christ to a world that changes each month or each week, that is the task of the Christian peri odical. W e cannot have too many of them. For nearly 40 years now I have been receiving magazines from all over the world. I would not be with out them. They keep me in touch with what is going on in religious circles and they keep me posted re garding the movements of church leaders. Their various editorials and even the advertising keeps me up to date. I feel as 1 read them that I am in touch with Christian workers the world over. If I did not have them, I would feel very much alone in my work. Oswald J. Smith, Missionary Pastor Robert A. Cook, Vice-Pres. Scripture Press Foundation • A. W. Tozer, Editor The Alliance Witness •

. . . and there’s nothing to buy. Work full or part time . . .

Many o f our people working full time make from $8,000 to $12,000 yearly. Many more work part time earning $75 to $100 a week. ' _ And above all, as they earn, these folk are in a vital home ministry to further Christ’s Kingdom! Once you’ve started, you ’ll agree with Dr. Edman that the spiritual opportunities and financial gain are most satisfying. _ .
