GREAT MOVIN' DAY o m m ie , are we settled yet?” The voice was plaintive, ap pealing. “ Almost, Mark. Why do you ask?” “ I don’t know. But I guess it’s be cause when we’re settled we will not have any more trouble.” “That’s not so,” Ardyth addressed her younger brother. “We’ll never be without trouble in this life. Huh, Mama? But I know why 7 want us to get settled. I feel more at home when everything in the house is where it belongs.” Apparently the move from Florida to California had affected the small children more than either parent had realized. Sleeping on floors while waiting for beds to arrive, the glare of bare windows until draperies could be purchased, having to look through and over many boxes to find a de sired item, and the moving and ad justment of furniture as the family character and spirit began to per meate the house had combined to make the children restless. Mark’s reaction to the unsettled state was trouble. Ardyth didn’t feel at home. Now the moving “ pains” have dis appeared, and our dwelling is more than a parsonage; it is HOME. The children know where to find things. As a result, they are quieter in res ponse to an orderly house. As Moth er’s children were restless when the house was not yet “ home,” so the spirit of man is like the sea, “ driven with the wind and tossed” when not in communion with God, his Maker. Only the child of God can face our 20th century world, which reels apace from the impact of sin and Satanic forces, with a deeply rooted inner peace and security, come what will. May God help us to praise Him for the serenity which is ours in the midst of chaos, and to thank Him for the promise of a great and im minent “movin’ day” when His own will be “ caught up to meet the Lord, . . . and so we shall ever be with the Lord” (1 Thess. 4:17). Lord, haste the day! M
