behaviours and governance structures necessary to harness AI responsibly and eectively at scale.

8.1 Responsible and Ethical AI

AI-related failures can attract intense regulatory scrutiny, litigation exposure, reputational damage and loss of stakeholder condence. Concerns relating to fairness, misinformation, bias, explainability, privacy and accountability can rapidly escalate into broader governance and trust issues. Even where immediate nancial losses are contained, reputational damage arising from poorly-governed AI systems may have long- term implications for enterprise value and stakeholder condence. Responsible AI governance is increasingly central to protecting enterprise reputation, stakeholder condence and long-term corporate resilience.

Responsible AI governance is closely linked to maintaining the organisation’s social licence to operate. Boards should recognise that sustaining stakeholder trust is not limited to regulatory compliance alone, but extends across a broad spectrum of expectations relating to fairness, transparency, accountability, safety, privacy, workforce impact and societal responsibility.

As AI systems become increasingly embedded within products, services,

operational processes and decision-making, organisations will be expected to demonstrate that AI is deployed in a manner that is trustworthy, human-centric, and aligned with long-term stakeholder interests.

Maintaining Stakeholder Trust Expectations is integral to corporate resilience, reputation and long-term enterprise value.

Trust should be viewed as a strategic asset in AI adoption.
