THE

Wild! Animals real & imaginary

AUSTRALIA Today we had a visit from the animal man. He showed us lots of animals that live in Australia. We saw a kookaburra, cockatoo, scorpion, python, tarantula, a cane toad, a skink and a monitor lizard. "I really liked the kookaburra, I learnt that it is a laughing kingfisher that doesn't eat fish. And if you squeeze a cane toad, poison comes out. It was amazing and I loved all the animals. " Nathaniel 2J. Carmen 2J " I really enjoyed holding the python and how its skin felt, all slimy and scaly." " I liked how the cockatoo showed off its feathers when it liked someone" Albie 2J. Thanks to Miss. Stocking for the story. WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE To kick-start our ‘In The Wild’ topic, children came dressed as their favourite jungle animal on Thursday 6 th January. All the children looked fantastic! Children came as elephants, monkeys, snakes, a Komodo dragon, explorers and many, many more. We read jungle stories, danced creatively like our favourite animal and decorated an Elmer elephant. Children had lots of questions about different jungle animals and they wrote them down so we could research the answers. That’s how we know crocodiles can’t stick their tongues out and snakes keep their eyes open when they are asleep.

All the children had a sssssuper day!! Thanks to Miss. Supple for the story.
