THE

Goalie Girl! Pencils at the ready

DRAW IT On Friday 7th January 2022, Year 3 had a visit from Chrissy Marshall, a.k.a. ‘Sensible Pencil’. Chrissy is one of Britain’s best live caricaturists. He was invited into Abbey to help to open Year 3’s new topic for this term - ‘Superheroes’. First, the children went to the hall, where Chrissy showed them how to draw cartoon faces. He made it look so easy! The children had a go too, looking at a selection of different facial features. Later on that day, Chrissy did workshops in the classrooms, showing the children how to draw a superhero! He started off by drawing a simple stick man, then adding details. In each class, Chrissy created a ‘Class Superhero’; in 3K the children shared ideas and came up with ‘Goalie Girl’ (maybe she could play for Liverpool with her ability to zap incoming goals)! 3V were persuaded to create an Enrique Iglesias (if you know Mrs Vickers…you know!) inspired superhero and in 3B the children came up with an ‘Ice Cween’ superhero. The children were really enthused by the experience and have enjoyed putting into practise their newly learnt skills. We wouldn’t be surprised if we see some professional cartoonists from Abbey in the future! Thanks to Mrs. Kaur for the story.
