Busy busy busy! Year 2 working hard

RESIDENTIAL It has been a busy couple of weeks in Year 2. We had the residential and day visit to Frank Chapman, which was excellent. All children behaved beautifully and due to the great weather, we all managed to have lots of outdoor learning. Thomas in 2J said he loved being independent, making his own bed and sleeping with his friends on an evening. It was cool wearing helmets with lights on and going searching for ‘dynamite’ in the mines . The children went on lots of walks in the 90 acres of land, being Woodland Detectives and making a special wish at the Wishing Tree. Thomas' wish has already come true! The children were a credit to the school as they conducted themselves well during the day and let teachers have at least two hours sleep each night! This week we had a visitor from the BBC Symphony Orchestra come into work with Year 1 and 2 children. Mrs Johnson's brother, Michael, played his cello and helped the children use their body as percussion. As he finished the afternoon, Michael expressed what a wonderful atmosphere there was around the school and how kind the children were at Abbey. It's always nice to hear lovely comments about the children from outside visitors. And finally, we had a mysterious bird of prey visit us at playtime last week. Answers on a postcard if you can tell us which bird it is.

Thanks to Mrs. Johnson for the story.
