His court appearance on the charges is April 3. Catalytic converter thieves Hawkesbury OPP station warns home- owners and businesses that deal in auto- motives to keep an eye on their vehicles. There have been several incidents in- volving theft of catalytic converters from vehicles. The device is attached to exterior exhaust pipe and removes the bulk of car- bon monoxide and other pollutants from the exhaust before it goes out the tailpipe.
ROCKLAND | A domestic argument involv- ing three people escalated into something more serious. Police in Rockland answered a call Feb. 21 about an assault complaint at a business on Laurier Street. Investigation indicated that a domestic dispute between three people ended with two men getting into an argument during which one of them is alleged to have struck the other. A 31-year-old Rockland man, name with- held, is now charged under the Criminal Code with assault, domestic mischief, and failure to comply with a probation order. He is scheduled for a first appearance in provincial court March 5 in L’Orignal on the charges. Out-of-town domestic A 52-year-old Clarence Creek man faces a spousal assault charge following police investigation of an incident in Embrun on Feb. 17. OPP from the Embrun station answered a domestic disturbance call from a home on Notre-Dame Street. Police investigating determined that a woman at the residence was assaulted. The accused, name withheld, will in pro- vincial court March 5. Stolen ATV Someone is riding around the winter trails on a stolen ATV. The Hawkesbury OPP detachment re- ceived a report about a stolen ATV from Alfred-Plantagenet Township. The theft oc- curred at a Wharf Street home in the village of Lefaivre sometime between Feb. 13 and 14. A backyard shed was broken into and a black-and-yellow 2004 Polaris Scrambler 500cc ATV taken. Anyone with information on the theft can call Const. Mario Gratton at the Hawkesbury station at 613-632-2729 or the CrimeStop- pers toll-free confidential tips line at 1-800- 222-8477. Illegal ATV traffic One ATV rider will be on the road to L’Orignal in early April to explain to a judge why he was driving some friends around the village of Wendover one evening on his four-wheeler. Stéphane Dion, 29, of Plantagenet is charged with driving while under suspen- sion, trying to avoid or escape police, driv- ing an off-road vehicle without insurance, illegal driving of an off-road vehicle on a highway or public road, driving an off-road vehicle without a permit, and failing to ap- ply for an off-road driving permit after be- coming the owner of such a vehicle. The charges resulted when Const. Pascal Boudreau was on patrol Feb. 22 in Alfred- Plantagenet Township. While in Wendover around 8:30 p.m., the officer saw a green Arctic Cat ATV with three people on board driving alongWater Street in the village. The constable tried to stop the ATV by flashing his cruiser’s emergency lights but the driver of the off-road vehicle just looked at the of- ficer and turned the ATV at the intersection of Main Street and Rue de l’Église without bothering to stop. The constable caught up with and stopped the ATV on Concession Street and
