only for food, but also for the sac rifices which would be offered. How blessed it is to read, "And Noah did according unto all that the Lord commanded him." Noah believed God and proceeded to carry out His instructions. May we be as faithful in obedience to the Lord's will and purpose for our lives today. DESCRIPTION OF THE FLOOD The Bible gives us a very clear picture of what took place when God's judgment was made upon the sinful human race in Noah's day. The great cataclysm took place in the six-hundredth year of Noah's life (Genesis 7:11). All the foun tains of the great deep were brok en up and the windows of heaven were opened. The period of rain continued for 40 days and nights. Have you ever wondered where all that water came from? A scientist recently showed me some charts he had made to grasp a picture of this event. He had drawn the ocean beds of the world to calcu late the capacity of water. To cover the entire earth all God had to do was raise up the ocean bottoms a certain distance and lower the mountains the same way to achieve this situation. It would have been easy for God to do this if He so chose. He made the world in the first place. His very nature is one of omnipotent power. Many scien tists believe that the inside of the earth is molten like soft plastic and is extremely hot, liquid rock. If the ocean bottoms went up something else would have to go down. The Scripture tells us that He broke up the fountains of the deep. We also read that "the windows of heaven were opened." This is a

trough. When it rains hard we may say, "It's pouring cats and dogs." Actually, it is only falling, one drop at a time. Shakespeare said, "It

falleth as the gentle rain from heav en upon the place beneath." At the time of the flood it was not dropping but rather pouring liter ally. God opened the troughs of heaven. Where did all that water come from? At the time of crea tion the Lord divided the waters which were above the firmament or sky from those which were be low. These would be the oceans and seas. It has been held by re liable men that God probably put a lot of moisture high in the strat osphere very lightly frozen in the form of ice all around our planet earth. When the sun shone on that ice canopy the heart and light of the sun diffused evenly over the earth. This canopy served like a greenhouse. This makes good sense. It may be that when the flood came God dissolved the canopy. It would be just like sud denly opening the roof of the
