In looking at this strong needle, I am reminded of some of the women of the Bible. In Judges 4 we are told of a woman named Deborah. She became a great judge, and through her, God de livered the children of Israel in battle. Before she became a judge, she was a prophetess, and was in touch with God. From God she received wisdom and strength to lead the children of Israel. There were men in Deborah’s day who looked stronger than she, but when it came to the test, they were lacking in strength, because they had not con tacted God as she had done. In yourself you may be weak, but if you will allow Christ to touch you, He will make you strong.

Watch what happened in the days of the Judges. (Pull the inside of the telescope up, allowing the word “ IS RAEL” to lower. “ ISRAEL” is going down, and the word “ JUDGES” shows on the telescope. The days of the Judges were days of danger for Israel, because they turned from serving the Lord their God. The days in which we live are dan gerous days also. Men of God are needed to call men and nations back to God. .Young people and children too have their place to fill in God’s plan. Objects: Two large needles, several small needles, and a large magnet. (One of the large needles should be a little smaller than the other. Rub this needle on one prong of the magnet, and allow it to remain contacting the magnet sev eral hours. Be careful that the other needle does not touch the magnet.) Lesson: Which of these needles do you think is the stronger? “ The largest one, of course.” Don’t be too sure until they have been tested. The larger one reminds me of a man, and the other of a woman. We are accustomed to think that men are stronger than women; but in many ways this is not true. We will test the needles to see which is the stronger. Here is a pile of smaller needles. I place the largest needle on the pile and nothing happens. When I place the smaller needle on the pile, it lifts many from the pile. In this case, the smaller one is the stronger. Would you like to know why the smaller needle was the stronger? It was because it had been in contact with this large magnet. While in contact with the magnet, it took some of the magnet’s power. July 13, 1952 D u t y a n d D e e d s

Object: A paper telescope. (Use a piece of adding machine paper 2% inches wide by 7 feet long. Roll tightly until the diameter is approximately IV 2 inches. Paste the end of the paper on the outside, to keep it from unrolling. Print the word “ ISRAEL” on the roll. Place your finger -inside the roll and pull down until the telescope is ap proximately 24 inches long. Print down from the word “ Israel” the word “JOSHUA.” Push the telescope back together, and pull it out again in the opposite direction, with the small end up. Beginning near the top, print down toward the word “ ISRAEL” the word “JUDGES.”

Lesson: We shall let this telescope talk to us this morning. You can see some things with the aid of a telescope which you could not see otherwise. The roll of paper from which the telescope will come has the word “ ISRAEL” printed on it. As we open the telescope, you »will notice the word “ ISRAEL” goes up, and the word “JOSHUA” ap pears. Joshua was a great leader, for we read, “And the people served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the Lord, that he did for Israel” (Jud. 2:7). Israel went up in the days of Joshua. (Push the telescope back together.) I am sorry to tell you that all the days of Israel were not days during which the nation went up, for we read, •'And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and served Baalim: And they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and fol lowed other gods” (Judg. 2:11,12).
