T20 MAVERICKS CRICKET Manager/Coach: Victor Sue-Tang Mavericks Year 13 Term 1: Edwin Dargue, Wil de Geest, Ben Evans, Brodie Gason, Charles Goodwin, Jarrad Hill, Max Luisetti, Fletcher Miller, Liam Pratt, Kynan Salt, Will Sleigh Mavericks Year 12 Term 4: Alberto Benito Santisteban, Ned Botherway, Angus Hammett, Jack Jones, Anton Marshall, Nathan McKenzie, Nic Shearer, Tim Stewart, Hendrix Taylor, Sam Whitaker Term 1 The Year 13 T20 Mavericks had a great season, reflected in the personal growth in each of the boys and the camaraderie that was forged through collective struggle. Some of the earlier matches were more of a lesson than a game, but as the season progressed and the novice cricketers gained confidence in front of the wicket, the matches turned into nail-biters which were won in the closing innings. Edwin Dargue and Brodie Gason opened the batting and were consistently supported by the middle of the order, with every game producing a different hero – Liam Pratt, Jarrad Hill, Fletcher Miller or Ben Evans. Kynan Salt took the most wickets, with fielding support from Max Luisetti, Charles Goodwin and Will Sleigh. The competitiveness and the fun aspect of playing on this team encouraged other College boys to join as guest players and then to become regular substitutes for the team. I am proud of how the players supported each other and demonstrated respect. The team family went beyond the boys, with parents coming out to every game. The fan support was fantastic, and each week we had both spectators and willing hands to help with scoring. The season was brought to an abrupt end by Covid-19 lockdown, however, and – most disappointingly – before the Mavericks had the opportunity to play against the College Cubs.

T20 RAMS CRICKET Manager/Coach: Callum Bell Team: Joshua Erasmus (captain), Isaac Aitken, Adam Chamberlain, Remy Fitzgerald, Callum Hackston, Shyam Hari, Alex Speight, Rajan Stephens It has been another successful year for the T20 Rams. Winning far more often than not, the boys played some fantastic cricket. While their cricket skills were strong, injury was pervasive throughout the season, however, and so special mention must go to those students who helped to fill numbers during the year. At the cricket prize-giving, Joshua Erasmus was named the players’ player for the team, while Adam Chamberlain was the top fielder, Isaac Aitken the top batsman and Remy Fitzgerald the top bowler. Finally, it is important to recognise the support given by the boys’ parents each week. It has been a pleasure to see familiar faces on the sideline and the assistance you have provided has been invaluable. All in all, it has been a fantastic year to be a part of the Rams, and I look forward to working with them again in the future. Callum Bell Manager, T20 Rams Cricket

Term 4 The new T20 Mavericks are the

enthusiastic successors to the legacy of teamwork. After only one game, the team settled the batting order and fielding positions of novice players and took on the seasoned and undefeated Cubs. The Mavericks players and friends took to the field and, although the bowlers presented many opportunities, the fielders dropped three routine catches to concede what looked to be an insurmountable 195 runs for seven wickets. Nic Shearer led the Mavericks into bat with a target run rate of 10 per over. After 10 overs and although no single batter retired with more than 50 runs, the Mavericks had a feeling that a win was possible. With support from Ned Botherway batting tenth and with two overs to bowl, Anton Marshall smashed consecutive boundaries to push the score past the 196 target. The consistent Cubs will finish the 2020 season near the top of the competition, but giant-slayers are a mantle humbly worn by the College boys who call themselves Mavericks. A grudge match for all time to come is born. Victor Sue-Tang Manager, T20 Mavericks Cricket
