More Than a Sale: Angie Nelson Recognized for Client-First Approach Real estate is more than just buying and selling homes; it’s about trust, timing, and navigating some of life’s biggest decisions. That’s exactly why Angie Nelson has been named St. Thomas’ Favourite Real Estate Agent in this year’s Readers’ Choice awards. “Being voted St. Thomas’ Favourite Real Estate Agent is truly an incredible honour,” says Angie. “It reinforces why I do what I do each and every day.” While real estate is her career, Angie adds, “Every decision I make is rooted in my clients’ best interests.” Born and raised in St. Thomas, Angie has always had a strong connection to the community she now serves. After graduating from Humber College with a diploma in Fashion Management, she worked with the Fashion Design Council of Canada and contributed to Toronto Fashion Week before transitioning into a long career in hospitality. Over more than 20 years, much of it in leadership roles, she developed a deep understanding of customer service and relationship-building. “I have always had a passion for real estate,” Angie explains. “After many years of leadership roles, I decided I wanted to pursue my dream and become a licensed REALTOR®.” She entered the industry in 2021 during the height of the COVID-era housing market, an experience she describes as both chaotic and invaluable in shaping her skills.
“This industry can sometimes feel isolating, but at Elgin, there’s a genuine sense of community that feels like family,” she says. Angie is also quick to acknowledge the mentors who helped guide her early in her career, as well as her current partnership with veteran agent Cathy Harris. “Cathy has been a steady presence through every high and low,” Angie says. “She em- bodies everything you hope for in a mentor.” As St. Thomas continues to grow, Angie sees the local market evolving alongside it. “St. Thomas is in a really unique moment right now… it’s not just growing, but going through a transformation,” she explains. With that growth comes opportunity, but also the need for strategy. Angie emphasizes the importance of proper pricing, strong marketing, and informed decision-making, whe- ther clients are buying or selling. That level of guidance is one of the key reasons she believes working with a REALTOR® is so important. “Using a REALTOR® is really about protecting yourself in what is usually the largest financial transaction of your life,” Angie says, noting that small mistakes in private sales can have significant financial consequences. Beyond the transactions, it’s the relationships that mean the most. “Helping someone buy or sell a home is not just a transaction, it’s an emotional journey,” she says. “Those rel- ationships don’t just end at closing for me.” As for what keeps her going in a demanding industry, Angie keeps it simple: “At the core of it, I’m motivated by doing things the right way, staying honest, putting clients first, and showing up fully no matter what the market or the day throws at me.” And judging by the community’s response, it’s a formula that’s clearly working.
Today, Angie is part of Elgin Realty Limited Brokerage, the town’s only locally owned real estate office. She credits the supportive environment and strong sense of camaraderie for helping her thrive. Thank You, St. Thomas Thank you for choosing me as St. Thomas’ Favourite Real Estate Agent. It’s an honour to help you navigate life’s biggest moves.
