Environ 7000 personnes ont pro!té de la Foire gourmande Outaouais/Est ontarien il y a quelques semaines à Lefaivre et Montebello. En tout, une cinquantaine de kiosques sur les deux rives ont proposé viandes, charcuteries, pâtisseries, fromages, crèmes glacées et fruits frais, sans parler des bières, vins et spiritueux qui ont fait le bonheur des bons vivants. Le Coup de Cœur sur la rive ontarienne a été décerné à la Binerie Plantagenet. Ci-dessus, Caroline Arcand et Luc Thibault, résidents de la municipalité de La Nation, viennent s’approvisionner en fraises d’automne à la table des Jardins Lamoureux où le propriétaire, Jacques Lamoureux, et son !ls Maxime, leur ont expliqué les rudiments de la plasticulture, méthode utilisée pour cette production tardive qui permet la cueillette des fraises jusqu’en octobre.

Russell Library holds first Grand Bazaar
RUSSELL l The Russell branch of the Town- ship of Russell Library held its !rst Grand Bazaar on Saturday, August 23 on the grounds of the library on Concession Street. The afternoon event was well attended by library patrons, library sta! and board members, and Friends of the Library. Coun- cillor Eric Bazinet and Mayor J.P. St. Pierre were on hand to draw prizes. Olivier Pat- enaude won the TD Summer Reading Club (Embrun branch) prize of an iPad, and Em- ily Dyck won the Russell branch iPad. Other prizes were also drawn for reading club
members. The summer reading clubs are gaining in popularity every year resulting in hundreds of books being borrowed and read.The Rus- sell Optimists’ Club provided the barbecue and the Horticultural Society provided a craft to attract future Junior Gardeners. The library returns to regular hours begin- ning in September and is o!ering several special events, including a bilingual magic show at the Embrun branch the afternoon of September 27.
