leadership as a municipal councillor.” Her environmental initiatives include chairing the Russell Environmental Advisory Committee since its inception and currently serving as vice-chair. She also sat on the En- vironmental Sub-Committee that reviewed the environmental impact of a proposed dump site. She sits on the Communications Committee for South Nation Conservation, has acted as educational steward and river- watcher for SNC, and is an active member of the Russell Horticultural Society. Her other passions include health and education. A former legal secretary, gov- ernment employee with Foreign A"airs and childbirth educator, she still teaches prenatal classes. She volunteered for the breastfeeding coalition of Prescott-Russell, has worked at Kindercare Daycare in Russell for over 10 years and is a #tness instructor at Curves Embrun. Saucier is probably well known for her work with the Canadian Cancer Society. She has organized the Embrun-Russell Terry Fox Run (20 years) which has raised $250,000 so far, and the Poutmasters Fishing Derby (12 years). She helped start Trees for Tomorrow which has planted 12,000 trees in two sea- sons, volunteers for the Living Locally Fair,

and attends most events around the town- ship. She seeks more transparency in local gov- ernment, advocating for local businesses, more consultation concerning planning, maintaining green space and forests, in- creasing the number of tree-lined streets, incentives for farmers for bu"er zones, and opposing the proposed land#ll site at Boundary Road. “I believe we should be concerned about the ecological impact, impact on our gen- eral well-being, the impending increase in tra$c, especially in winter months when roads are more dangerous for driving. We all know the congestion of the Orleans split. We may see a similar sight of tra$c trying to get o" the 417 at Boundary. If this goes through, I believe it will a"ect the econom- ics of this area and real estate.” She is also concerned about the second preferred site on Eadie Road. “What is Taggart-Miller plan- ning to do with that land? I support strong economic development in our Township, but in a sustainable manner. We need to ensure that the integrity of our farms and villages remains strong. ”

St. Pierre. “I was chair of the Environment Team DANDY and was instrumental in pass- ing a by-law banning the use of cosmetic pesticides in Russell Township, ahead of the current provincial by-law. This endeavour took 20 years but our group stayed with this project until the task was completed. I was nominated and won the Tri-Valley Con- servation Award in 2012. I aim to continue to demonstrate this kind of progressive
