versary. On the third of July, we went there and found from two hundred and fifty to three hundred men with their wives, sweethearts and loved ones. The building was beautifully, decorated. ' 'After we were introduced, the wife told us sh6 had heard about our work at the Bible Institute; and also that she had read the Bible through fifty times. The jazz band soon played the “Wedding March” and the procession marched up the aisle with lit­ tle children showering flowers in their path, and one child carrying a pillow with a ring on it. After the cere­ mony we had the wonderful privilege of witnessing for the Lord and of praying, not only for those who were present that night, but for all the shop workers and the officials. “We were happy to send the couple a copy of ‘Daily Light’ as a little present from the Shop Department of the Bible Institute and to later receive a message from them saying what a blessing it was to them. Three weeks later a letter came from the woman-saying that she had been praying for years for her husband’s salvation, and asking us to try to get him to come to our meetings at the shop. She said that he was a good moral man and a good hus­ band. We found that he could not come to the meeting, so asked permission to make a personal visit to his home. When we called, they invited us into their garden to the swing where his wife often sat for hours reading the Bible

and praying. There, under the trees, in the presence of his wife, we had the opportunity of speaking to ‘Pete’ about his relation to Jesus Christ. He bent his head and with tears running down his cheeks, he spoke through the ear trumpet to his wife and said he believed that Jesus was wounded for his transgressions and bruised for his iniqui­ ties, the chastisement of his peace was upon Him and by His stripes he was healed. We wish you could have seen the face of that godly woman who had prayed for years for this to take place! “Do not forget to pray for the Shop work.” How a Sea Captain Found the Way to Victory T H E Bible Institute of Los Angeles has, for the past seventeen years, carried on evangelistic work among the seamen. Recently Mr. Pearson and some of our stu­ dents visited and distributed Bibles, Testaments, Gospels, Scripture portions, tracts and Christian magazines on ves­ sels of twelve different nationalities. When time permits, meetings are held for both pas­ sengers and crew; if not, literature is left in each room and the men are dealt with personally about their relation­ ship to Christ. “Quite recently,” Mr. Pearson reports, “we were in the room of a captain who was to retire at (Continued on page 620)
