In the bustling neighborhood of Pacific Beach, San Diego, lies The Silver Fox Lounge, a hidden gem with a rich history dating back to 1975. At the helm of this beloved bar stands Julie Kazmi, a woman whose passion and creativity have transformed The Silver Fox Lounge into the cherished community hub it is today. Julie, a native of San Diego, was born and raised with a deep connection to her community. From a young age, she watched her mother, Sheila Meek, pour her heart and soul into The Silver Fox Lounge. The bar was more than just a business to their family—it was a place where people became family. Julie’s childhood was filled with memories of helping her mother count money and witnessing firsthand the dedication and hard work required to run a bar. After college and starting a pet nutrition center in Arizona, Julie’s life took a turn when her mother considered selling The Silver Fox Lounge due to suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Julie returned to San Diego, leaving behind her Arizona business to honor her mother’s legacy and help with Silver Fox. The transition was challenging for Julie as she juggled the legalities of a California business and her mother’s declining health. But her commitment to treating every customer as part of her family kept her going, as she provided a safe and welcoming environment. Julie’s nurturing nature extends beyond the bar, as she supports her employees through personal struggles, offering guidance and a helping hand whenever needed.
