De son côté, le CEPEO indique que les résultats de ses écoles ont augmenté pour une cinquième année consécutive, ce qui s’explique notamment pas la mise enœuvre de stratégies ciblées. «Les élèves du CEPEO font preuve d’engagement avec des performances aussi exemplaires. Ces résultats constitu- ent une grande fierté pour nos écoles et le conseil. Ils démontrent que les stratégies d’apprentissage et d’enseignement, per- mettant aux élèves d’acquérir les connais-
sances et les compétences nécessaires à leur épanouissement et à leur succès, sont gagnantes», affirme pour sa part le prési- dent du conseil du CEPEO, Gilles Fournier. La directrice de l’éducation et secrétaire trésorière au CEPEO, Édith Dumont, expli- que que ces résultats serviront à parfaire les plans d’amélioration au cours des pro- chains mois. BROCKVILLE | Despite improvements in recent y ears, Upper Canada District School Board grades 3 and 6 pupils still lag behind the rest of the province in stan- dardized tests. Among grade 3 pupils, 76 per cent of UCDSB students met the provincial stan- dard in writing in 2012-2013, according to Education Quality and Accountability Office figures. That represents a six percentage point increase over the 2009-2010 academ- ic year results. On a provincial level, 77 per cent met the Ontario standard. However, the gap widens when other subjects are compared. Some 66 per cent of UCDSB students met the provincial stan- dard for Grade 3 reading, compared to the provincial average of 68 per cent and 62 per cent of UCDSB students met the standard for Grade 3 math, compared to 67 per cent for the province. In grade 6 reading, 74 per cent of UCDSB students met the provincial standard, com- pared to the provincial average of 77 per cent. In writing, 71 per cent of UCDSB pupils met the provincial standard, compared to the Ontario average of 76 per cent. In math- ematics, 47 per cent of UCDSB students met the standard, below the provincial average of 57 per cent. At Russell Public School, among grade 3 students, the percentage of those making the grade was 66 in reading, 84 in writing and 61 in mathematics. Among grade 6 pu- pils, the percentage of those meeting the provincial standard was 53 in reading, 61 in writing and 48 in mathematics. At Cambridge Public School in Embrun, the success rate for grade 3 pupils was 31 per cent in reading, 65 in writing and 38 in mathematics. Among grade 6 students, the percentage meeting the Ontario standard was 75 in reading, 55 in writing and 50 in mathematics.

Students at Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario schools continue to stand out among the crowd. Catholic board stands out
Grade 3 and 6 pupils at CDSBEO schools exceeded the provincial average in exams administered by the Education Quality and Accountability Office in 2012-2013. Among grade 3 pupils, the percentage meeting the provincial standard in read- ing was 70 for the board and 68 for the province. In writing, the success rate was 84 per cent for the board and 77 for the province, and in mathematics, the suc- cess rate was 67 at the board level, the same as it was at the provincial level. Among grade 6 students, the percent- age of CDSBEO students meeting the standard was 84 in reading, compared to 77 in Ontario. In writing, the success rate was 80 for the board and 76 for the prov- ince. In mathematics, the percentage of CDSBEO students meeting the provincial standard was 59, compared to the Ontar- io average of 57. At Mother Teresa in Russell, the per- centage of grade 3 students meeting the standard was 67 in reading, 87 in writing and 70 in mathematics. Among grade 6 pupils, the success rate was 88 in reading, 98 in writing and 83 in mathematics.
