Ken Legros, from the Irish Electrical Buying Group (IEBG), has been recognised and honoured for his outstanding performance and dedication to the electrical industry in Ireland with a Special Recognition Award 2020 conferred by our judging panel. Ken has been in the industry for almost 40 years. Most recently, he is best known for his role as administrator for the IEBG, however, Ken has also carried out tremendous work within the Association of Electrical Wholesalers (AEW). Ken was an instrumental figure in the introduction of the AEW’s campaign with WEEE Ireland to drive recycling in the electrical industry. ESTEEMPROGRAMME - TECHNOLOGICALUNIVERSITYOFDUBLIN

The ESTeEM Programme based in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at TU Dublin was awarded the ‘Special Recognition’ by our judges for this one-of-a-kind mentoring initiative aimed at women working in the electrical industry to address gender equality. The purpose of ESTeEM (Equality in Science and Technology by Engaged Educational Mentoring), is to bring female students from electrical apprenticeship up to post graduates together with women role models who are actively working in ESB, Schneider Electric, Amazon, Arup, Dublin City Council, MasterCard and SAP. TU Dublin engineering and computing students get the opportunity to discuss and learn from women working in industry about how the skills and knowledge they are currently learning will not only be applied in third level but also in the professional work place.
