Mayor Gary Barton of Champlain Township raised the issue during the March 14 com- mittee of the whole session of the United Counties of Prescott-Russell council (UCPR). The March 11 deadline for comment on the process has already passed but, he noted, that should not stop rural municipalities like his and county councils from lobbying the province for some kind of revision that will at least help rural municipalities cope with the potential financial impact. i8FTIPVMEBMMCFDPODFSOFECZUIJT u Barton said. “I didn’t see a whole lot of people from rural fire department involves JOUIJTu The provincial government has created a new certification process it plans to make mandatory for firefighters in Ontario.
