It’s hard to believe that the start of the holiday season is already upon us. It seems as though the moment that the autumnal season begins, you can blink your eyes once and it’s already time to ring in the new year. While this festive time of year encourages people to gather together with friends and family to break bread and enjoy each other’s company, if your funds are low, planning these celebrations can bring about far more stress than excitement. Every week, Loaves & Fishes conducts a full, outdoor church service and then serves a hot meal at Barbara Bennett Park, directly across the Truckee River from Greyhound Bus Station next to the Truckee River. Their services continue through Thanksgiving. Come join them for a delicious meal and good company. Parking meters are located directly in front of Bicentennial Park or limited free parking across the river at Barbara Bennett Park near the basketball courts.
This nonprofit offers special holiday programs including Thanksgiving dinner and food boxes for the homeless population. The meals and support is served the day before Thanksgiving. If a resident does not qualify, their team will help them locate other sources of free Thanksgiving turkeys and meals for low-income families.

This wonderful program focuses on bringing all the tasty staples of a Thanksgiving meal (including turkey, ham, pie, cranberries, and more) to those in the community. What’s more is that the staff are even offering to deliver meals to those who might be homebound. Don’t let financial strains keep you from celebrating Thanksgiving with a hot meal and good company.
