Bluewater boys kick it in Kingston

The legendary Bruce Lee, who began his martial arts training in China’s traditional wing chun style, incorporated elements of kali along with other martial arts systems that he studied and adapted to create his own school of jeet kune do. “If Bruce Lee is the Elvis of the martial arts, Mr. Gaje is definitely one of the Beatles,” said Sensei Jeremy McCann of the Bluewater Academy.“This is really big for a small dojo in a small town.”

junior badminton trophy with Thomas Ehret. Kris Holford-Walker is this year’s Senior Male Athlete of the Year for RDHS along with earn- ing the senior boys basketball trophy. Brandi Thibeault-Bertrand was named Senior Female Athlete of the Year. Christina Charbonneau earned the track- and-field and senior girls volleyball trophies. Other individual athletic awards presented in- cluded Emily Boucher for varsity girls soccer, Ty Schubert senior boys soccer, Alexandra Godfrey varsity girls basketball, Carl Vancaemelbeke for junior boys basketball, Véronique Caron for girls hockey, Kimberly Paquet for senior badminton. In the rugby field the Most Improved Player awards went to Katrina Funk for the varsity girls, Max Buckle senior boys, and Aaron Powell for junior boys. Justin Powell earned this year’s Fit- ness Factory Award for training dedication, and the Sports Council Award went to James Houle.

Rockland | Jessica Joubarne and Adam Cooke pulled off their own year-end hat tricks in high school athletics. The Rockland District High School students each earned separate trophies for their individ- ual achievements in sports along with the year- end best nominations during the Annual RDHS Sports Awards banquet June 14. Joubarne was honoured with both the junior girls volleyball and junior girls rugby trophies along with the Junior Female Athlete of the Year Award. Adam Cooke was named Junior Male Athlete of the Year and earned the trophies for junior boys soccer and for boys hockey. He shared the
