Professional Clear Teaching Credential Requirements In order to qualify for a Professional Clear Teaching Credential, a student must satisfy all of the requirements for a Preliminary Teaching Credential. In addition to the courses integrated with the appropriate Biola Master of Arts in Education and credentialing programs, the following requirements related to the Professional Clear Credential apply: I. Post-degree students must be accepted into the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences as a Graduate Special student or as a Master of Arts in Education student (see Graduate School admission requirements). 2. Aminimum GPA requirement 3.0 for Non-Degree Seeking - Gradu­ ate Special Student and M.A. in Education Degree Program. 3. Completion of an approved sub­ ject matter program or passing scores on the appropriate Praxis/ SSAT examinations. 4. Passing scores on the California Basic Educational Skill Test (CBEST). 5. 30 units of coursework past the bachelor ' s degree in a pre­ approved program. The course­ work must be completed within five years of receipt of the Prelimi­ nary Credential. 6. Completion of the following: BIOS 300 Health Science or ASED 510 Health Education for Teachers; LEDU 470 or ASED 511 Computers in the Classroom; LEDU 410 Mainstreaming or ASED 521 Education in the Least Restrictive Environment. 7. Verification of training in car­ diopulmonary resuscitation - infant through adult (CPR) which meets the standards in either the American Heart Association Bor C level course or the American Red Cross Community CPR course. CLAD and BCLAO Certification The Department of Education and the Department ofTESOL and Applied Linguistics have designed coursework which meets the requirements for the certificate in Crosscultural, Language and Academic Development (CLAD),

U.S. Constitution Requirement The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing requires that a teaching credential candidate must have completed a minimum 2 unit course that covers the U. S. Constitu­ ti on or fulfill the requirement by examination . Biola University stu­ dents can complete this requirement by taking HIST 105 U. S. History or POSC 205 Survey of American Govern­ ment. Transfer students must either

Arich summer calendar accommodates local students and partici­ pants from outside the state of California The graduate program in educa­ tion is designed to facilitate the devel­ opment of external programs in the region and other countries. Master's program options designed for profes­ sional concentration are easily adapt­ able to international student needs. TEACHING CREDENTIALS California Commission on Teacher Credent/a/Ing Requirements for various creden­ tials and certificates are included in the designated degree concentrations. Spe­ cific requirements of the California Pre­ liminary and Professional Clear creden­ tials as well as other State specialization credentials and certificates may be obtained from the Biola University Department of Education. These requirements are subject to change. Faculty members of the Depart­ ment of Education promote academic rigor, scholarly research and pedagogi­ cal excellence as they collaborate with program participants, who are consid­ ered fellow professionals achieving higher levels of academic excellence. The Department of Education contributes to and benefits from its position in a nati onal universit y, simultaneously nourishing and being nourished through collaboration with the multiple schools of Biola Univer­ sity. These relationships strengthen concentration options. (Students can enrich their knowledge in Bible, the­ ology, psychology and intercultural studies at Talbot School of Theology, Rosemead School of Psychology and the School of Intercultural Studies.) Biola University is an approved educational institution that recommends individuals to the Commission on Teacher Creden­ tialing as having fulfilled all standards for California certificates and credentials.
